Green Synthesis by Microwave Irradiation of TiO2 Using Cinnamomum verum and the Application in Photocatalysis

The extraction process of bioactives from the aqueous extract cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) was optimized using Design Expert 11 program and analysis variance (ANOVA) by considering following parameters: weight (g), power (W), time (s) microwave irradiation. optimal conditions are 4.5 grams, 600 seconds, 150 watts With Cinnamomum verum under titanium (IV) tetrachloride as a precursor, TiO2 nanostructures were synthesized sol-gel method assisted irradiation in crystallization stage with W sec, respectively. Similarly, sample without same conditions. techniques characterized materials: X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance, Raman spectrometry, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). It feasible to obtain nanocrystalline solids anatase phase extract; particle size crystallinity influenced bioactive agents during synthesis (aqueous (microwave irradiation); smaller crystal size, higher crystalline order, lower band gap achieved for material compared other methods. materials evaluated photodegradation methyl orange (as model photodegradation), employing reference parameters commercial brand Sigma-Aldrich photolysis system. amount dye adsorbed tested quantified, finding an equilibrium 15 min, where that most at 7.5%.
